The Word editor, Mark Ellen calls his magazine a "a sophisticated and beautifully polished fanzine". In March 2007 he asked me to come up with a "modern classic" redesign that matched the music and entertainment magazine's new tagline: "Intelligent life on planet rock".
The cover has a new structure which gives an instant impression of the flavour of the magazine. Conjecture, humour, buying advice and talented writers are sold more effectively using a bold panel on the right hand side.
The logo has been redrawn and the magazine has a new set of fonts and colour palette.

The free CD has been redesigned so that it looks more like a collectable item rather than a throwaway freebie.
